May - Newfoundland Labrador – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in St. John’s, Newfoundland Labrador. Working group discussions, informational/education presentations, work plan reviewed, developed task assignments list.
October - Maine – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Freeport, Maine. Functional exercise was performed simulating a hurricane impacting Maine and New Brunswick primarily. The overall exercise goal was to support the validation and development of the Operations Manual, and identify the logistical concerns and resource integration requirements for a natural disaster; Health Partners Working Group formed.

May - Prince Edward Island – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Georgetown Royalty, Prince Edward Island. Working group discussions, informational/education presentations, and exercise planning for Functional Exercise scheduled for Fall 2009. Beginning discussion concerning the creation of a Health Partners Working Group.

June - Nova Scotia – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Halifax, NS. Exercise Event – Tabletop exercise based on a Halifax harbor explosion scenario.
December 26 – President George W. Bush signed in law S.J. Resolution 13
November - Rhode Island – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Newport, RI. Bylaws reviewed and approved; Definitions & Acronyms list is now a “living document” to be reviewed annually; Strategic plan reviewed.
June - New Brunswick – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Fredericton, NB. Bylaws completed and approved; 1st scheduled telephone exercise conducted prior to meeting – all but 1 jurisdiction contacted successfully.
January 4 – Senate Joint Resolution 13 passed by the U.S. Congress providing consent to the IEMG MOU.
October - Vermont – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Stow, VT. Tabletop Exercise performed simulating a public health outbreak – further regional planning needs & procedures were identified; Federal Partners Working Group formed; Form templates submitted by the Administrative WG and approved by board.
May - Quebec – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Quebec City, QC. The Guidebook and Operations manual was approved by the board – to be implemented when mutual aid will be asked by one of the IEMG Jurisdictions; Working groups were identified & the federal partners were invited to join in the working group discussions; the Strategic Plan was developed and became focus of the working groups. IEMAC was approved by the US Senate but waiting approval from the US House of Representatives ~ no issues foreseen on the Canadian side.
June - Prince Edward Island – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Charlottetown, P.E.I, with work groups meeting the day before the main meeting and then reporting progress to the main meeting.
October - Maine – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Portland, ME with the MSCWG meeting the day before the main meeting and then reporting progress to the main meeting.
September – Resolution 28-2, A Resolution Concerning Cross-Border Security, and also reaffirming support for the IEMG, was passed by the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers.

January - Maine – The MSCWG met in Portland, ME to develop a work plan and to form sub working groups.
October - Massachusetts – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Boston, MA and were joined by potential members of the medical surge capacity working group (MSCWG)
August - Resolution 27-3, A Resolution Commemorating the Anniversary of September 11, 2001, and Concerning Security and Border Management between Canada and the United States, and also reaffirming support for the IEMG, was passed by the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers.
August - Quebec, New Brunswick and Massachusetts sign the IEMAMOU at the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers.
June - New Brunswick – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Saint John, NB.
June - Quebec – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Quebec City, QC to continue development of procedures for implementation of the 'compact'.
February - Quebec - The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Montreal, QC to begin implementation of the IEMAC 'compact'.
July - Letters expressing intent to fully participate in the IEMAC are signed by the Governors of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont; and the Premiers of Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick and Quebec, during the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers.
July - Maine, New Hampshire, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia sign the IEMAC at the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers.
July - The International Emergency Management Assistance Memorandum of Understanding (IEMAC) was accepted by the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers.
June - Representatives of States and Provinces met in Portland, ME to finalize the language for the "compact".
October - Maine - Representatives of States and Provinces met in Portland, ME to begin to draft a formal 'compact' for mutual assistance between IEMG members.
June 8, 1998 - The Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers pass Resolution 23-5, A Resolution Concerning the International Emergency Management Assistance Compact.
